Deploy the observability stack
Install and start the flightctl-observability RPM package so that Prometheus scrapes metrics from Red Hat Edge Manager components and Grafana visualizes them.
Before you begin
- You are logged in to the host machine running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.7 or later, or a compatible RPM-based Linux distribution.
- Red Hat Edge Manager services are installed by using the
flightctl-servicesRPM package, as described in Installing the Red Hat Edge Manager RPM package.
For disconnected environments, complete Installing the observability stack in disconnected environments before you follow the connected-install procedure below.
Procedure
Results
- Verify that all services are running:
sudo systemctl status flightctl-observability.targetVerify that the following services are in
active (running)state:flightctl-prometheus.serviceflightctl-grafana.service
Note flightctl-userinfo-proxy.serviceruns only whenuserinfoProxy.upstreamUrlis configured for Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform OAuth integration. For the default local Grafana authentication flow, do not expect this service to beactive (running); it is normal for it to be inactive or failed until you configure OAuth. - Verify that Prometheus is scraping Red Hat Edge Manager metrics:
sudo podman exec flightctl-prometheus wget -qO- http://localhost:9090/api/v1/targets 2>/dev/null | \ jq -r '.data.activeTargets[] | select(.labels.job | contains("flightctl")) | {job: .labels.job, health: .health}'The output shows healthy targets for both the API and the Telemetry Gateway.
- Access the Grafana UI at
https://<your_host>:3000with usernameadminand passwordadmin. Older installations might use the default passworddefaultadmin. - In the Grafana UI, open Dashboards in the left sidebar. Verify that dashboards are available for the Red Hat Edge Manager API (API server, database, and agent connectivity metrics) and for fleet health, rollout status, and application metrics. Dashboard titles match the definitions shipped with the observability package.
