Introduction to Red Hat Edge Manager
Red Hat Edge Manager provides scalable, secure management of edge devices and applications. You declare the required operating system, configuration, and workloads for individual devices or entire fleets, and the device agent applies them autonomously and reports status back to the service.
Red Hat Edge Manager is designed for modern, container-centric toolchains and operational best practices. It targets image-based Linux operating systems running bootc and container workloads running on Podman (quadlet or single-container). It also supports Kubernetes-style workloads on MicroShift, including Helm charts. Red Hat Edge Manager supports both rootless and privileged application execution, with workload user separation so you can run applications with minimal privileges by default and elevate only when necessary.
For supported combinations of management platforms, edge operating systems, and Flight Control CLI releases, see the version compatibility matrix.
