Pin bundle contents to a release version

You can lock container image tags and RPM versions to a specific Red Hat Edge Manager release so that every air-gapped target installs an identical set of artifacts.

By default, mirror-images downloads the latest RPM versions available in your enabled repositories and tags container images according to the tool defaults. To produce a bundle for a specific stable release, pass --tag-override to pin container image tags and include the version in --rpm-packages to pin the RPM. In each command below, replace <variant> with rhem-el9 or rhem-el10.

Important

Enable the Red Hat Edge Manager subscription repository on the prep machine before you run mirror-images. The tool downloads RPMs from repositories enabled on that host.

mirror-images \
    --variant <variant> \
    --bundle ~/rhem-bundle-1.3.0.tar.gz \
    --bundle-rpms \
    --rpm-createrepo \
    --tag-override v1.3.0 \
    --rpm-packages flightctl-services-1.3.0

The --tag-override flag overrides the container image tag for Red Hat Edge Manager service images (for example v1.3.0). Third-party images with pinned tags in the manifest are unaffected. The tag must match the flightctl-services RPM version you bundle and install on the target.

To list available RPM versions before you run the command:

dnf list --showduplicates flightctl-services
