Local RPM repository with subscription mirrors

If your organization mirrors Red Hat Edge Manager RPMs with Red Hat subscription tooling or Red Hat Satellite, sync RPMs with dnf reposync instead of bundling them with mirror-images.

Meet the shared target host prerequisites in Installing Red Hat Edge Manager on Red Hat Enterprise Linux in disconnected environments before you start this path.

Use this path when

  • Your organization already stages Red Hat Edge Manager RPMs with Red Hat subscription tooling or Red Hat Satellite
  • A private registry on the disconnected site already holds, or will hold, Red Hat Edge Manager container images before you start services
  • You need agent and CLI RPMs for edge devices in addition to the management server
  • You will reuse the offline RPM tree for other workflows (for example image builder workers; see Configuring the image builder worker in disconnected environments in the Additional resources section)

Use Offline installation bundle when you want images and RPMs in a single portable archive.

Prerequisites on the prep machine (internet-connected)

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 or 10 with skopeo installed (sudo dnf install -y skopeo)
  • An active Red Hat Edge Manager subscription and repository entitlement on the staging host
  • dnf-plugins-core installed
  • The prep machine runs the same Red Hat Enterprise Linux major version and architecture as the air-gapped target
  • Sufficient disk space for the RPM tree (size depends on whether you sync the full repository or download agent packages only)
  • Container images mirrored separately to a private registry reachable from the air-gapped target before you start Red Hat Edge Manager services

Complete this path in order:

  • Preparing offline RPMs with subscription repositories
  • Transferring an offline RPM repository
  • Configuring registry redirection for disconnected installs
  • Installing from a local RPM repository (management server)
  • Installing the agent and CLI on air-gapped edge devices (edge devices)
