Publish automatically when you create a build (web console)

When you create an image build in the web console, you can opt in to automatic catalog publication with the Publish to Software Catalog option.

Procedure

  1. Open Image Builder in the Red Hat Edge Manager web console and start a new image build.
  2. Complete the build form:
    1. Select the source OCI repository and base image (picker or manual entry).
    2. Configure the destination repository, image name, tag, binding mode, and optional disk export formats.
    3. Ensure Publish to Software Catalog is selected.
    4. Choose whether to create a New catalog item or add a version to an Existing catalog item.
    5. Select the target catalog (for example default) and provide the catalog item name and version.
    6. Select the export formats to include in the catalog item version.
  3. Submit the build.
  4. When the build completes successfully, the service creates an ImagePromotion for the build and starts the publication lifecycle. Monitor progress on the Image promotions tab until the status reaches Completed.
  5. Open Software Catalog and confirm that the catalog item and version appear. Deploy or update devices from the catalog as described in Installing from the catalog.

    To publish without this option, clear Publish to Software Catalog when you create the build and follow Publishing manually from Image Builder instead.
