Review the August 2026 updates and fixes for Red Hat Lightspeed running on RHEL systems.
2.2.1. General Copy linkLink copied to clipboard!
- Decommissioning of the global filter in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console
The global filter in Hybrid Cloud Console and Red Hat Lightspeed has been decommissioned.
You can now filter directly within individual services to get a more contextual experience that makes it easier act on relevant information.
2.2.2. Inventory Copy linkLink copied to clipboard!
- Enhanced workload identification
Inventory now provides improved workload classification to help you identify and manage systems based on the software and services running on them.
- Ansible Automation Platform execution nodes are now classified as an Ansible Automation Platform workload. They are now available in workload-filtered experiences.
- Red Hat Satellite is now officially recognized as a workload type across the console.
- Containerized deployments of Red Hat Satellite and Ansible Automation Platform workloads are now detected and reported.
- Enhanced Inventory Views flexibility
Inventory Views provide additional options for customizing and exporting the information most important to you.
- Recommendation and vulnerability information is now consolidated into the Recommendations and Vulnerability columns so that you can more easily scan for severity.
- The Installable advisories column now displays all four advisory types. Systems without pending updates display No installable advisories.
- Data collector is now available as a column in Inventory Views.
- Inventory Views now respects role-based access control (RBAC) permissions for Vulnerability, Advisor, Compliance, Content, and Malware Detection content.
- UI enhancements and fixes
- Fixed an issue that caused the System Details page for CentOS systems to remain stuck on an infinite loading spinner.
- The Image Builder Blueprint field has been removed from the System Properties section of the System Details Overview tab and is now available in its own dedicated section for easier access.
- Inventory exports now include additional system profile information such as IP addresses, Subscription Manager ID, Satellite ID, and tags.
2.2.3. Tasks Copy linkLink copied to clipboard!
- Task service retirement
The Red Hat Lightspeed Tasks service will be retired on October 29, 2026.
Customers who need to convert CentOS systems to RHEL should use the Convert2RHEL command-line tool, either directly or through Red Hat Satellite. For more information, see Converting from a Linux distribution to RHEL using the Convert2RHEL utility.
2.2.4. Image builder Copy linkLink copied to clipboard!
- Transition to single-target environment blueprints
The hosted image builder service in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console is transitioning to single-target environment blueprints.
Target environments include bare metal (.iso), virtualization platforms (.qcow2), public and private cloud providers, and other supported environments.
This change will not affect the majority of the Red Hat customers, because most users already use single-target blueprints.
Expect the transition to be completed by the end of September 2026. The change applies only to the hosted Image Builder service in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console. For more information, see Image builder hosted service is transitioning to single target environment blueprints.
2.2.5. Malware Detection Copy linkLink copied to clipboard!
- AI-generated Malware summaries
Malware Detection now uses AI-generated summaries to provide additional context when a malware signature is detected.
Instead of presenting only a file name and basic match metadata, the service provides an informational summary of the malware signature along with links to relevant sources. This additional context can help administrators and security teams quickly understand the potential risk and begin their incident response.
2.2.6. Planning Copy linkLink copied to clipboard!
- Proactive lifecycle notifications
Now you can configure the Notification service to send a monthly email message. This message includes upcoming lifecycle events, a summary of RHEL versions, and the application streams that are approaching end of life across your connected systems.
To subscribe to lifecycle events summary, go to
. - Export lifecycle data
- You can now export lifecycle data directly from the Lifecycle view in CSV, JSON, or XML formats. Use these exports for offline planning, reporting, and audit activities.
- Improved AppStream detection
- Planning now provides more accurate application stream information by reducing false positives in module detection. Systems are no longer incorrectly flagged for application streams that are not installed.
