Chapter 3. Technology previews

Important

Technology Preview features are not supported with Red Hat production service level agreements (SLAs), might not be functionally complete, and Red Hat does not recommend to use them for production. These features provide early access to upcoming product features, enabling customers to test functionality and provide feedback during the development process.

Technology Preview features in this release:

Configurable vendor remediation recommendations and reports
Important

Configurable vendor remediation recommendations and the Vendor Remediation Report page are Technology Preview features only. Technology Preview features are not supported with Red Hat production service level agreements (SLAs) and might not be functionally complete. Red Hat does not recommend using them in production. These features provide early access to upcoming product features, enabling customers to test functionality and provide feedback during the development process.

For more information about the support scope of Red Hat Technology Preview features, see Technology Preview Features Support Scope.

Previously, there was no user-facing method to view available remediations or generate consolidated remediation reports across SBOMs.

With this update, Trustify infers vendor remediation recommendations by using a configurable set of regular expressions defined in the TRUSTD_RECOMMEND_PATTERNS environment variable. Administrators can set comma-separated regex patterns, each with a capture group for the upstream base version, through environment variables, Helm charts, or Operator custom resource definitions (CRDs).

Additionally, recommendation data is available in the Recommendation column within software bill of materials (SBOM) package and vulnerability detail views. Users can also generate an aggregated Vendor Remediation Report across multiple SBOMs with CSV export functionality.
