Verify environment configuration

Verify that your Python environment is correctly configured by performing a dry-run installation with pip.

About this task

The dry-run installation confirms that your network settings allow successful package retrieval from the trusted artifact index.

Procedure

  1. Run a package query or a dry-run installation using pip: 
    pip search <package-name>

    where:

    <package-name>

    Specifies the name of the package.

    Alternatively, you can simulate an installation to test the connection:

    pip install --dry-run <package-name>
  2. Verify that the tool successfully connects to packages.redhat.com.  Successful execution indicates that your authentication and environment configuration are correct.
